Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to sign to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released with the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining fame. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first posted songs online in the year 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013, five Finger Discount. The singer continued uploading her songs online throughout 2014 and released her own single Bound. The song Sweat it part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then and wanted her to perform on Rihanna references. The announcement that she would sign with Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat was her contribution to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016, her debut EP was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance on behalf of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017. She also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she performed as a guest performer on two songs, with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video later released in September. In November, she dropped two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 she then released two more singles called No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, the 26th of February, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed along with Cole as part of The Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. The track was made available with a video uploaded to YouTube February 20, 2019 has been watched over 3 million times within the first 7 days. In support of the track She toured together with 6LACK in December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
